KARACHI:,,, Commissioner Karachi Shoaib Ahmed Siddiqui said on Monday that trimming of trees and sanitation work would be carried out on Karsaz Road to help improve security in the sensitive area keeping in mind the present situation.
Siddiqui said this while reviewing the measures being taken for sanitation on the four big roads, Shahrah-e-Faisal, Dalmia, Karsaz and Hassan Zai Shaheed in the city, in a meeting held at his office.
Additional Commissioner Karachi Muhammed Aslam Khuso, Director Local Government Commissioner Office Rubina Asif, Lieutenant Commodore Navy Imtiaz, representatives of district municipal corporation (DMC) East Iqbal Ahmed, Cantonment Board Faisal Nazir Ahmed, Cantonment Board Clifton Khalid Bhutta, Karachi Metropolitan Corporation Noman Ahmed and other relevant officers were also present.
The commissioner said that all the concerned local governments and organizations in coordination with the relevant district municipal corporations (DMCs), Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) and cantonment boards should ensure cleanliness of the roads.
He further said that cantonment boards and DMCs should take action against the people or organization were creating trouble for public through littering, under public nuisance act, and file challans to the relevant additional commissioners.
On a request, the commissioner said that Ms Rubina Asif should personally ensure trimming of trees and sanitation work on Karsaz road to help improve security in the area.
It has been noticed that despite a bill approved in Sindh Assembly against wall-chalking this February the new wall-chalking emerges out here and there every now and then.
“Graffiti, whether political or non-political, and all the flags, other than national, should be removed from all the roads,” he said.
