Mehran underpass a one-off project in Sindh

KARACHI: The Rs5.1 billion project of Mehran Underpass is one-off in its structure in all the Sindh which would be completed in a challenging time of four months, said a senior engineer at the project on Thursday.

He told that structure of the underpass would be supported by pilings which could retain an earthquake, while in all the other underpasses piling was never used they had walls on both sides.

The Mehran Underpass project was started on 4th March and is targeted to be completed by 4th July.

“The project of eight months has been handed over us to be completed in four months due to the sensitivity of the area which is a challenging task for us, however we are determined to complete it within time,” he said.

He said that the flyover at Johar Morr was completed in 82 days and the National Stadium flyover was completed in 92 days.

“Our team is expert at building flyovers, however we have not dealt very much with underpasses but still we believe that it is not a big deal for us and another astonishing accomplishment for us in this project would be bypassing Shahra-e-Faisal without disturbing traffic on it,” he said.
