Men considered more brave, principled and angry; Women considered talkative, emotional and patient,Poll

Islamabad: According to a Gilani Research Foundation Survey carried out by Gallup Pakistan, 59% Pakistanis believe that men are braver than women; 69% believe that women are more talkative.

A nationally representative sample of adult men and women, from across the four provinces was asked, “We will ask you about some conventional qualities of men and women. Please tell us regarding each quality whether you think it is traditionally found more in men or women.”

Regarding bravery, 59% respondents said that men are braver, 22% said that women are braver, while 18% said both are equally brave and 1% did not respond. Regarding anger, 54% respondents said that men were more likely to get angry, 22% said that women are more likely to get angry, while 23% said both are equally likely and 1% did not respond.

Regarding principles, 51% respondents said that men are more principled, 23% said that women are more principled, while 25% said both are equally principled and 1% did not respond.

Regarding intelligence, 37% respondents said that men are more intelligent, 29% said that women are more intelligent, while 33% said both are equally intelligent and 1% did not respond. Regarding patience, 28% respondents said that men are more patient, 46% said that women are more patient, while 25% said both are equally patient and 1% did not respond.

Regarding emotions, 24% respondents said that men are more emotional, 42% said that women are more emotional, while 33% said both are equally emotional and 1% did not respond. Regarding talkativeness, 12% respondents said that men are more talkative, 69% said that women are more talkative, while 18% said both are equally talkative and 1% did not respond.

Regarding creativeness, 27% respondents said that men are more creative, 34% said that women are more creative, while 38% said both are equally creative and 1% did not respond.

The study was released by Gilani Research Foundation and carried out by Gallup Pakistan, the Pakistani affiliate of Gallup International.

The recent survey was carried out among a sample of 2579 men and women in rural and urban areas of all four provinces of the country, during October 20 – October 27, 2014. Error margin is estimated to be approximately ± 2-3 per cent at 95% confidence level.
