Minister accepts demand of health allowance

KARACHI: Provincial Minister for Health Sindh Dr Mehtab Hussain Dahar on Monday accepted the demand of giving health allowance to medical staff of two major hospitals of Karachi and said a summery in this regard will be moved to the finance department soon.

He expressed these views while meeting with a delegation of Executive Members of Joint Action Committee, Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Center (JPMC) & National Institute Child Health (NICH) at the Sindh Secretariat. The delegation was led by Haji Gul Saeed, Ameer Husain Shah, Zaryab Tiwana, Abdul Wahid, Ismail Jisqani, Faisal Chaudhry, Abdul Qadeer and Fahim Gondal.

Dr Mehtab said health allowance will be given to the employees of these two healthcare institutions and a summery will be moved to the finance department soon in this regard. He said issue of neurosurgery department JOPMC employees will be also resolved on priority. He said issue of deputation allowance will be decided after due consultation.

The employees of Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Center & National Institute of Child Health Karachi under the banner of Joint Action Committee had been protesting for one month for their deputation & health allowances and regularization of the neurosurgery department employees.

The health minister took the notice of employees’ protest, held a meeting with Executive Members of Joint Action Committee and assured the delegation that genuine demands of employees will be resolved soon.

Executive Members of Joint Action Committee later called off their protest after the health minister’s assurance.

Secretary Health Sindh Iftikhar Shalwani, and Special Secretary Public Health Sindh Dr Khalid Sheikh were also present.
