ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister for Information and Broadcasting Senator Pervaiz Rashid on Sunday said the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) would connect Gilgit Baltistan to Gwadar, Karachi and Central Asian Republics.
Addressing a ceremony in connection with the Independence Day of Gilgit-Baltistan here on Sunday, he said the federal government was paying attention towards the development of Gilgit Baltistan.
The economic corridor project – he said – would help promote trade, tourism and economy, adding that the CPEC would create numerous employment opportunities and bring prosperity.
Addressing the ceremony, Gilgit Baltistan Chief Minister Hafiz Hafeezur Rehman said law and order situation had improved in Gilgit Baltistan as a result of steps taken by the incumbent government.
Tourism – the minister said – was being promoted in the area, adding that at least 600,000 tourists have visited Gilgit Baltistan during the tenure of the present government.
