ISLAMABAD: Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar has launched SMS Raabta service to facilitate people in getting passports. Addressing a news conference here on Wednesday, he said both passport and CNIC systems are being simplified to facilitate people. He said people would be kept abreast with the processing of their applications and they would be able to give their feedback as well.
He said 13 centres will be established in the country, starting from Lahore, Islamabad and Karachi. He said delivery of passports at homes would be initiated from Islamabad/Rawalpindi next month and will be expanded to the entire country in a span of six months.
The Minister said that machinery for Machine Readable Passports will soon be dispatched to 91 Missions abroad. He said names of 65,000 (sixty-five thousand) people have been removed from the new ECL and as many from the black list. He said a separate ECL policy would be formulated for foreigners.
He said people belonging to the proscribed organizations, accused of drug trafficking, and involved in spying against the country would never be allowed to travel abroad. He said corruption in NADRA would not be overlooked and 138 employees had been sacked under the charges of corruption and issuance of fake identity cards.
