Minister orders full computerization of vehicle registration

KARACHI: Provincial Minister for Excise & Taxation and Minority Affairs, Gayan Chand Esrani, on Monday directed excise officers to make vehicles registration fully computerized and ensure excise department’s website as productive.

While addressing a meeting at his office, Esrani directed relevant officers to remove Technical problems from department’s website and make common men’s visit to website fruitful.

He said that many complaints had been received regarding excise department website that information about vehicle’s registration and taxes were not posted which irked visitors.

The minister said, “Reports against agent mafia in excise department, had been received that they were charging more fee of registration than actual.” He warned excise officials that if anyone of them was found supporting agent mafia, he would be suspended.

Esrani directed officers to make website fully functional within a few days and bring an end to agent mafia from excise department.

Secretary Excise & Taxation Abdul Majeed Pathan, Director Headquarter Mohammad Akhtar Azad, Director Excise Shabbeer Shaikh and other officers were present in the meeting.
