Minister promises action against buses sans emergency exit gates

KARACHI: Sindh Minister of Transport Mumtaz Hussain, promised on the floor of Sindh assembly here Tuesday that he would personally take action against the buses transport buses with no emergency gates and confiscate them.

He said through advertisements in newspapers, transporters are warned that all passenger buses must install emergency gates in the buses within a month and FIR will be registered and punitive actions will be taken against those who will not obey the orders.

The Sindh government has already issued a notification that all the buses entering into the provinces will be inspected and after the inspection they will be allowed to enter the province.

The minister said tomorrow he along with other officials would visit the Superhighway and take action against the public transport buses that do not have emergency exit gates installed.

He said last month his department got the power of vehicle fitness inspection and a private firm would be engaged under public private partnership to inspect the vehicle fitness and issue them fitness certificates after proper checking and verification.
