Peshawar: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Minister for Information and Higher Education Mushtaq Ahmad Ghanni Thursday presided over a high level meeting of the information department and reviewed the overall performance of the department, he expressed satisfaction over the performance and specially appreciated the efforts of secretary information for making the department more effective and publicizing the government initiative through media.
On this occasion, Secretary Information, Abid Majeed in a briefing told the minister that three FM radio stations are being established each in Abbottabad, Swat and Kohat districts for public awareness and more FM stations would be set up in other districts of the province with a view to highlight the government policies and measures for public welfare.
He further said that establishment of a state of the art media cell is in final stages that would help publicize the government’s policies through media besides providing necessary information to journalists. The cell would have centralized media room for live press coverage of press conferences and monitoring of positive and negative media reports and programs about the provincial government.
He told the minister that the information department financially supported 80 deserving journalists from journalist endowment fund this year.
Meanwhile, he informed the minister regarding the financial and technical issues facing by the department as well as the yearly performance.
The Minister appreciated the overall performance of the department within meager resources and said that KP government is taking prompt measures to improve the performance of all government departments.
He assured that all the issues, whether financial or technical, of information department would be resolved.
The Minister said the KP government has implemented reforms agenda and brought transparency, merit in government department and such measures are needed to be highlighted through media for public awareness.
The meeting was attended by Director Information Shoaib ud Din and other officials of the department.
