Minister: (Tax net expanded by 40% over last 2.5 years: Dar)

ISLAMABAD: Finance Minister Ishaq Dar on Tuesday said that the tax net has been expanded by 40 per cent during the last two and a half years because of prudent economic policies of the government.

Talking to a private news channel, he said the government is trying to increase the number of tax payers by facilitating them.

He said the government has announced an asset regularisation scheme for the non-filers of income tax returns, offering them to declare their hidden assets of up to 50 million rupees by paying a nominal one percent tax.

He said the scheme was finalized after many meetings with the representatives of traders belonging to different political parties.

The Minister urged the opposition parties to formulate a collective roadmap to bring economic stability in the country.
