KARACHI: The Health Department, Government of Sindh has finalized arrangements to open two model dental clinics for public in Malir and Gharibabad areas of Karachi to provide specialized dental treatment facilities to citizens.
An official of Director Health Karachi Office told PPI that the model dental clinics project has been initiated by health department Karachi and under it model dental clinics will be opened in Korangi, Gharibabad, Malir, Lyari and Sadder in phases.
He said all arrangements have been made to open model dental clinics in Gharibabad and Malir in the first phase. He said dental chairs have already been fixed in these two clinics and they will be made operational very soon.
He said this step has been taken by the health department to provide specialized treatment facilities to patients at local level, adding the model clinics will be established each district of Karachi. A plan also has been made to up-grade these clinics into Oral Hygienic Clinics in future where maxillofacial surgery facilities would also be provided to the patients.
He said many private dental clinics established in various parts of city have become a major source of hepatitis and other diseases as they used unhygienic dental instruments.
He said in these circumstances, there was urgent need of establishment of these model clinics in Karachi to provide dental and other specialized treatment facilities to citizens.
He said dentistry is a complete subject and as the treatment of different dental diseases is very costly; therefore, step has been taken to provide these specialize dental treatment facilities to the citizens at government level.
Director Health Karachi Dr Zafar Ejaz was not available for comment.
