Monsoon 2014: CS Sindh asks PDMA to be alert

KARACHI: Chief Secretary (CS) Sindh Sajjad Saleem Hotiana on Monday asked Provincial Disaster Management Authority (PDMA) and all concerned departments to remain alert for monsoon season and prepare strategy to safeguard people, livestock, private and public property in case of any flood.

He expressed these views while chairing a high level meeting to review arrangements of monsoon season in Sindh at his office. The meeting was attended by Chairman National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) Major General Saeed Alam, Director General PDMA Syed Salman Shah and other officials from irrigation, board of revenue, finance, local bodies and other concerned departments.

He emphasized upon coordinated efforts from all concerned departments to safeguard human lives and livestock during the forthcoming monsoon season.

Chairman NDMA assured his cooperation in this regard while DG PDMA briefed the participants regarding contingency plan for the season.

Secretary Irrigation briefed the meeting over salient features of strategic plan with specific reference of vulnerable points of barrages, lakes and canals in the province.
