Karachi: Provincial minister for health Jam Mehtab Hussain Dahar has said that Sindh health department in collaboration with USAID is trying to strengthen health systems in Sindh through USAID’s MCH five years program from October 2013 to September 2018 in 15 districts of the province and in this regard a revised MoU will be signed in October.
This he said while talking to a USAID delegation here in his office. Jacqueline Schumacher office director USAID, Monica Villanova MCH program team leader and Zilfikar A. Gorar were also present on the occasion. Minister health was informed that USAID, MCH program was being run in Thatta, TandoAllahyar, Dadu, Tharparkar, Khairpor, Umerkot, Nosherofroz, Sukkur , Shikarpur, Mirpurkhas, Matari , Ghotki and some UCs of Larkana. Jam Mehtab Hussain Dahar told the delegation that health department needed assistance in strengthening nursing structure in Sindh to increase the number of female nurses per year by 2000.
He informed the delegation that USAID might help to establish cardiac services centre in north Sindh. It would not only help out the patients in north Sindh but it would also ease the burden on public and private facilities at Karachi.
The delegation told minister health for Sindh Jam Mehtab Hussain Dahar that the MCH program was comprised of five components namely family planning and reproductive health, maternal, new born and child health, health communication, health commodities and health systems strengthening.
