MQM shows concern over water shortage

KARACHI: Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) Sindh assembly members on Sunday shown concern over acute water shortage in Karachi due to existence of hundreds of illegal water hydrants and water theft.

In a joint statement, the lawmakers said that on one side water level in Hub Dam was falling because of no raining while on the other, side tankers mafia and illegal water hydrants were openly involved in water theft which caused acute water shortage in different parts of the city.

They said that in the hot weather, dearth of water was causing trouble to the citizens.

They demanded of State Minister Abid Sher Ali, Chief Minister Sindh Qaim Ali Shah, Sindh Local Bodies Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon and Chairman Karachi Water and Sewerage Board to take immediate and effective action against water theft mafia and overcome water scarcity in the city so that the citizens could take a sigh of relief.
