KARACHI: Majlis-e-Wahdatul Muslimeen (MWM) and its allied parties – Pakistan Muslim League-Q, Pakistan Awami Tehreek, Sunni Ittehad Council and Pakistan Sunni Tehreek – on Monday announced to stage sit-ins across Sindh and Punjab from Maghrib prayers and vowed to continue the same until resignation of Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and Chief Minister Punjab Shahbaz Sharif.
Speaking at a press conference at Karachi Press Club, MWM leader Ali Hussain Naqvi said that they were staging sit-ins in solidarity with thousands of people present in Islamabad to de seat Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif.
Naqvi said that in case Tahirul Qadri’s deadline for Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif resignation expires, the MWM would start its country-wide sit-ins.
“In first phase, all allied parties will stage sit-ins and block important highways and railway stations in Sindh and Punjab while in next phase, the sit-ins will be staged in Gilgit-Baltistan, Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and they would continue till the end of this government,” he said.
The other parties and their leaders who flanked MWM included Pakistan Awami Tehrik Leader Mehmood Memon, Pakistan Muslim League-Quaid leader Samar Mehdi, Sunni Ittehad Council Leader Azhar Raza and Pakistan Sunni Tehrik Matloob Awan.
The MWM leader said that sit-in in Karachi would be staged at Numaish Chowrangi from today and all allied parties would participate in it and it would continue till the end of the government.
“Participation of millions of people in long march has taken Nawaz’s right to rule anymore,” he said adding that rulers should take notice of the situation and accept demands of people, otherwise entire country would be paralyzed.
