ISLAMABAD: Pakistan’s Ambassador-designate to Republic of Hungary Mr. Cyrus Kazi called on Acting Speaker National Assembly Murtaza Javed Abbasi in Parliament House, on Tuesday.
While talking to the Ambassador, the Acting Speaker said that Parliament of Pakistan believes that parliamentary diplomacy could play a pivotal role in strengthening of bilateral relations between friendly countries.
Therefore, Pak-Hungary Parliamentary Friendship Group in National Assembly with a diverse composition has been activated to bring both countries more closer.
He asked the Ambassador to facilitate interaction of Hungarian parliamentarians with their Pakistani counterparts for sharing experiences and best parliamentary practices.
He said Pakistan also attaches importance to Hungary which always had been supportive of Pakistan especially in attaining GSP plus status and EU’s Autonomous Trade Preferences for Pakistan (ATPs). He said that Pakistan Mission in Budapest should work for enhancing cooperation in trade and economic sectors.
The Ambassador-designate assured the Acting Speaker that during his posting in Budapest, he would work for strengthening of Pakistan-Hungarian friendship besides enhancing bilateral trade and economic collaboration.
Later on, Vice Chancellor Quaid-i-Azam University, Prof. Dr. Javed Ashraf called on Acting Speaker. Talking to Vice Chancellor, Acting Speaker said research and development in Science and Technology are essential elements for mending new avenues to meet the present time challenges.
He said the present government is committed to encourage higher education sector in the country and providing ample opportunities by facilitating research based education through an unprecedented enhancement in the recent financial year’s budget.
Dr. Javed Ashraf expressed his gratitude and informed the Acting Speaker about the university’s current endeavours to reach greater academic excellence by facilitating the students with modern IT services and employing rigorous research methods to produce quality academic research papers through critical thinking and a deeper exploration of unique ideas.
