ISLAMABAD: Speaker National Assembly Sardar Ayaz Sadiq has said that Pakistan is fully committed to strengthening and expanding bilateral ties with Romania.
He highlighted that Romania is an important country in Pakistan’s desire for reaching to the European Union and its market. The Speaker said this while talking to the Ambassador of Romania Mr. Emillion Ion who called on him here in Parliament House on Thursday.
He said that Pakistan-Romania relations are based on mutual goodwill and understanding as well as converging views on important global issues.
The formations of Pakistan Romanian Friendship Association (PRFA), Pakistan Romania Business Council (PRC) are significant steps in cementing bilateral relations between two friendly countries, he added.
Sardar Ayaz Sadiq said that the current level of trade is still far from reaching its true potential. The Speaker urged greater engagement between Business communities of both countries. He also underlined the need to strengthen Parliamentary engagements and promoting people to people contact between the two countries.
Ambassador of Romania Mr. Emillion Ion appreciated Pakistan’s efforts in reaching out to Romania and assured cooperation in diverse sectors and admired Pakistan’s recent economic growth and its progress towards strengthening democracy.
He further added that Pakistan has greatest contribution in fighting the war against terror and has rendered huge sacrifices for the global peace and security. He assured that Romania will extend full cooperation to Pakistan on various multilateral forums.
He underlined the need for frequent exchanges of Parliamentary delegations for promotion of greater cooperation between the two countries. He also conveyed good wishes of Romanian Speaker and invitation to Speaker National Assembly to visit Romania.
