NA: (Chinese delegation calls on NA Deputy Speaker)

ISLAMABAD: The Deputy Speaker National Assembly Murtaza Javed Abbasi has said that Pakistan and China were not only neighbours but time-tested and all-weather friends and Pakistan attaches highest priority to its relations with China.

The Deputy Speaker expressed these views while talking to a six-member delegation headed by Mr. He Jun, Vice President of Chinese People’s Association for Peace and Disarmament to Pakistan who called on him in here at Parliament House on Wednesday.

The Deputy Speaker said that friendship and cooperation between both the brotherly countries serve the fundamental interests of the two countries and peoples, and contribute to peace, stability and development in the region and beyond.

He said Pakistan strongly desire to further consolidate and deepen its deep-rooted, all-weather strategic partnership of cooperation for mutual benefit of both the nations. He said Pakistan appreciates the strong support and selfless assistance from the Chinese government and people for its socio-economic and its national security and territorial integrity.

He underlined the need to further enhanced Parliamentary cooperation between Chinese National People’s Congress and National Assembly of Pakistan. He said regular interaction between parliamentarians of both the countries could play a vital role to further cement the existing bilateral relations.

While discussing Pak-China economic corridor the Deputy Speaker said that the project of China Pakistan Economic Corridor is a valuable gift by China for the people Pakistan. He said that the Prime Minister of Pakistan Mian Mohammad Nawaz Sharif was taking keen interest in CPEC Project and has established a special task force to monitor it.

The Deputy Speaker also appreciated the Chinese assistance in power sectors especially the solar power project for the Parliament Building. He said that this solar project is a symbol of the friend ship between the two countries.

He underscored the need to transmit the rich traditions of friendship to future generations through cultural programme and youth exchanges. He also appreciated the remarks expressed by the Chinese President for Pakistan in his address to Joint Sitting of Parliament during his visit to Pakistan.

Mr. He Jun, Vice President of Chinese People’s Association for Peace and Disarmament to Pakistan said the Chinese Government always regards Pakistan its closest friend and wants to further deepen China-Pakistan friendship and pass it on from generation to generation.

He appreciated the steps taken by the Pakistan’s Government to curb the terrorism and extremism and assured Chinese all out support in this regard. The delegation also witness the proceeding of the National Assembly Session.
