ISLAMABAD: The Standing Committee on Planning, Development and Reforms met under the Chairmanship of Abdul Majeed Khan Khanan Khail in Pakistan Railways Headquarters, Lahore on Thursday to discuss the different projects of Pakistan Railways.
The Committee highly appreciated the performance of Pakistan Railways and stated that commitment level of the present management is credible. The Committee was of the view that if such efforts would be carried on, the Pakistan Railways would regain its status in near future.
The Committee appreciated project of rehabilitation Diesel electric Locomotives in Pakistan and stated that Pakistan Railways may observe the possibility of manufacturing whole locomotives in Pakistan instead of the depending on other countries which would not only help to promote locomotives industries in Pakistan but help to create the opportunities of employment as well.
Later on the Committee visited loco workshop at Mughalpura, Lahore and witnessed the different stages of the work. The Committee highly appreciated the professional skills of Pakistan Railways personnel for their commitment to excellence in limited resources.
The MNAs including Syed Mohammad Athar Hussain Shah Gillani, Nadeem Abbas Rabaira, Shaheen Shafiq, Shazia Ashfaq Mattu, Shamas-un-Nisa, Sher Akber Khan and Iftikhar-ud-Din attended the meeting.
