NA: (NA Deputy Speaker expresses annoyance over non-implementation of Committee decisions)

ISLAMABAD: Deputy Speaker Murtaza Javed Abbasi has expressed his annoyance over non-implementation of the decisions taken by the House and Library Committee.

The Deputy Speaker said that decisions taken in the meeting of the Committee were duly conveyed to the Capital Development Authority, however the Authority does not seem to be interested in their implementation. He made these observations while chairing a meeting of the National Assembly House and Library Committee held here in Parliament House, on Thursday.

Referring to the under-construction additional family suites for the Parliamentarians, the Deputy Speaker said that the poor performance of the Contractor was repeatedly brought into the notice of CDA and directions were conveyed to CDA for getting the family suite completed without further delay, however, still the construction work was far behind the schedule.

He directed CDA to bring the Contractor in next meeting of the Committee to be held on 22nd December to explain his lethargic attitude towards the project.

He directed CDA to submit a detailed progress report on the issue in question and get written assurance from the contractor for completion of the project within the revised schedule.

The Committee also directed CDA to reduce administrative expenditure of being incurred on maintenance staff as major chunk of the budgetary allocation for maintenance of the lodges was being spent on pay and allowances of the staff.

The Committee directed for ensuring payment of minimum wages to his Janitorial staff that has been approved by the government i.e. Rs.13000/-

While discussing the issue of possession of plots to the employees of the National Assembly in NA Staff Cooperative Housing Society by the Management of Federal Employees Cooperative Housing Society (FECHS), the Committee directed for handing over early possession of the plots as per commitment.
