NAB arrests accused Syed Masoom Shah

Peshawar: NAB Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Tuesday arrested accused Syed Masoom Shah Alias SMS Special Assistant to Amir Haider Khan Hoti Ex-Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on the allegation of corruption & corrupt practices and accumulation of assets beyond know sources of income worth Millions of rupees.

As per detail the accused remained public officer holder during 2001 to 2005 as Tehsil Nazim Shabqadar and as Special Assistant to Ex-Chief Minister Khyber Pakhtunkhwa during 2010 to 2013.

The Ex-CM was the portfolio-holder of C&W and Public Health Engineering Deptt. In connivance and support of Syed Masoom Shah for posting / transfers in violation of rules in these departments, was a built-up common public perception against the accused. For accepting bribes and misusing his political status for service of the people, he was dubbed and known as SMS.

During the course of inquiry it was revealed that the accused gain illegal money which does not match to his legal sources of income which includes a house and Hujra on 12 Kanal land in his village Battagram District, precious two plots in Hayatabad, two plots in Regi Model Town, two plots in DHA Karachi, a precious house at Tulip Road Bahria Town Rawalpindi, 1 kanal house in Zaryab Colony Peshawar, 3 kanal precious land in Tehkal Bala Peshawar, 1 Kanal land in Warsak Road Peshawar.

Furthermore, the accused Syed Masoom Shah possessed huge bank balance in local and Foreign Bank Accounts and owned precious vehicles. The accused and his family members frequently visited UAE and spent millions of rupees.

NAB Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is actively pursuing the inquiry more alarming facts are on card. The accused will be produced before the Accountability Court Peshawar for obtaining his physical remand.
