Islamabad: Qamar Zaman Chaudhry, Chairman NAB during his visit to NAB KPK on Saturday inaugurated the Tree Plantation Campaign by planting a tree in the premises of NAB KPK along with DG and senior officers of NAB KPK.
After tree plantation, Mr. Qamar Zaman Chaudhry, Chairman NAB said NAB is determined to eradicate corruption from the country with absolute professionalism, integrity and without fear or favor on merit and transparency to anyone.
He said that NAB believes in ‘zero-tolerance’ towards corruption. It is encouraging for NAB that for the first time Anti-Corruption has been made a part of development agenda in Pakistan in the context of Governance.
The Planning Commission of Pakistan has included a chapter devoted to issues of corruption in the 11th five year plan and we intend to work closely with Planning Commission to achieve the goals set in there.
He said during the last one year from Jan 2013 to Dec 2014, NAB has recovered 4 billion rupees, received 19,816 complaints, authorized 767 inquiries, 276 cases were converted into investigations and 152 references were filed in the Accountability Court.
The figures of complaints, inquiries and investigations are almost double as compared to the same period of October 2012 to September 2013 with 10,414 complaints, 276 inquiries, 84 investigations and 138 references respectively.
National Accountability Bureau (NAB) has recovered Rs 262 billion from 1999 todate since its inception and deposited in national exchequer. NAB received 270, 675 complaints, authorized 5872 inquiries, 2908 cases were converted into investigations and 2159 references were filed in different Accountability Courts throughout the country.
The comparative figures for the latest years are indicative of the hard work being put in by all ranks of NAB staff in an atmosphere of renewed energy and dynamism, where fight against corruption is being taken as a national duty. The Chairman NAB appreciated the work done by NAB KPK under the supervision of DG NAB KPK in eradication of corruption and corrupt practices.
