KARACHI: The Sindh High Court(SHC) on Tuesday issued notice to chairman National Accountability Bureau (NAB) to file comments on a petition seeking bail for Pakistan People’s Party leader and former petroleum minister, Dr Asim Hussain.
SHC bench headed by Ahmed Ali M Sheikh took up the petition filed by Nida Faizan, Dr Asim’s daughter, maintaining that her father is being investigated by NAB without evidences against him.
The former minister is currently in police’s custody over his alleged involvement in providing medical facilities to some terrorists and wanted criminals belonging to a political party and notorious Lyari gang war, but at the same the SHC had allowed the NAB to investigate him in corruption charges.
The petitioner requested the court to grant his father a bail in corruption cases as there are no evidences against him.
Earlier, the lawyers of defence side argued that investigators have not produced credible evidences against their client whereas all over the world investigating agencies initiate inquiry on the basis of credible available evidences.
The court issued notice to NAB directing to file the comments on 17th December.
