Nadra employees urge government to announce comprehensive service structure

Peshawar: Employees of National Database and Registration Authority demanded the government to announce a comprehensive service structure and give them scale and other allowances as per service rules.

Speaking at a news conference at press club here on Thursday, Nadra Employees Union Central General Secretary Gohar Ayub Marwat said that the employees have been deprived from up-gradation and other allowances due to absence of service structure and other incentives since creation of the institution. He said despite the growing inflation, a computer operator in the Nadra, was given only Rs.7,000/- per month, as salary, which was completely unjust with them.

For last three decades, he furthered said Nadra employees mostly serving on BSP-5, while they were also not considering as workers of the institution. He added the according to management, the old employees have become useful for the department due to lack of computer proficiency.

Similarly, he said the discrimination has been also carrying out in provision of fast-track allowance, as low grade employees were given only Rs.200 and Rs.300 as fast track allowance, while upper grade officer, like BSP-17 and BSP-18, would avail Rs.20,000 and Rs.40,000 under the same allowance facility.

Flanked by the union Central president Saleem Sherpao, KP chapter president Azmat Qadafi, Senior vice president Abbas Khan Chamkani, and dozens of Nadra employees, Mr Marwat accused the high grade officials have lavishly spending funds of Nadra on foreign trips and other luxuries.

The Union General Secretary informed that no audit of expenditure and income of Nadra have been carrying out, except internal audit, since establishment of the institution. He furthered added that appointments have been made on political grounds during previous PPP-led coalition government, but a number of employees are still awaited for up-gradation and promotion in the institution. “We demand to consider us as federal employees, and make Nadra a government institution. We demand to give us basic pay scales, Mr Marwat said.

The Nadra employees have also expressed reservations over serving showcase notice to Director General Nadra KP region, due to ongoing agitation of workers in Peshawar, demanded the government and Chairman Nadra to immediate withdraws it.

On the occasion, the Union president presented a charter of demands, according to which, all Nadra employees, including DGR/DEO supervisor should be given one-step promotion after three year, besides BPS-12 for data entry operators.

They also sought the medical allowances, house rents and other allowance, like given to other employees of federal government departments. A seniority list should be issued with implementation of date of joining, while Nadra should be purged off from political interference, according to demands.

It also asked the government to increase special project allowance and to announce scholarship for children of the employees. Under the CoDs, the employees demanded the effective implementation of Article 43 of the Nadra ordinance.
