ISLAMABAD/SHANGHAI: Leveraging the ever growing military cooperation, the 2nd bilateral Naval Exercise between Pakistan and PLA (Navy) conducted at Shanghai, China and adjoining seas concluded on Sunday.
Pakistan Navy Ships SHAMSHEER AND NASR along with embarked helicopters were extended warm welcome and hospitality during their visit and participation in the exercise. Official calls on senior military and civilian officials, joint interactive sessions, seminars on professional topics and social events were the hallmark of the Harbour phase. The sea phase of the exercise covered the entire spectrum of naval operations in surface, sub-surface and air warfare domains.
PLA(N) was represented at sea by large number of naval units including ships, submarine, fighter aircraft and helicopters. Salient events conducted at sea include basic to advance level Anti-Submarine warfare exercises with PLA(N) Submarines, live Gunnery Air & Surface firing practices and Maritime Interdiction Operations involving Special Forces from both sides.
Armed Forces of both the countries in general and navies in particular have always galvanized their efforts to continually improve the level of coordination and mutual training. In this regard, the conduct of second exercise of the series is manifestation of the mutual desire to enhance interoperability and cooperation. The exercise provided valuable opportunity for both Pakistan Navy and PLA (Navy) to learn from each other’s’ experiences and refine warfare tactics. The deep rooted naval collaboration has become even more important in present time where combined naval operations are becoming a bastion for stability of maritime affairs. The 3rd Exercise of the series is planned in Pakistani waters shortly.
