Navy official among seven killed, five injured in Karachi violence

KARACHI: Seven people, including a navy official, were killed and five others injured in separate incidents of violence in the city on Monday. A navy official, Ghulam Akbar, 45, was seriously injured when unidentified armed men riding a motorcycle opened fire on his car near Karsaz Market on Shahrah-e-Faisal. The victim was rushed to Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC), where he succumbed to his wounds during treatment.

Two unidentified youth aged, 20 and 22, were shot and injured by unknown armed men near Saleem Centre in North Karachi. The injured were rushed to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital (ASH) for treatment where one of them was succumbed to injuries.

A youth Afnan was stabbed to death by unknown persons near Kalaboard in Malir. The body was shifted to JPMC for a postmortem examination.

However, a man was found dead near Banaras flyover in Orangi Town within the limit of Pirabad police station. Police said that the body was five days old and someone had dumped it here. The victim was shifted to ASH for medico-legal formalities. The identity of the body could not be ascertained yet.

Separately, two unidentified men, aged 28 and 20, were killed when unknown armed men opened fire on them in Jamali Goth, Sohrab Goth. The bodies were shifted to ASH for medico-legal formalities.

A man, Imran, 35, son of Nazir, was killed and two others, Pervez, 45, son of Jamal, and Afzal, 40, son of Khalid, residents of Malir, were injured when unidentified armed men opened fire on them in Millat Town, Malir. The body and injured were shifted to JPMC.

A woman, Shazia, 26, daughter of Liaquat Ali, was injured when unidentified men opened fire on a bus near Shershah police station in Shershah. She was shifted to Civil Hospital Karachi for treatment.

Separately, a 30-year-old woman, Hamida, was shot and injured by unknown armed men near Kalaboard in Malir. She was brought to nearby private hospital for treatment.
