NDMA (Govt prepares 10 year disaster management plan: NDMA Chairman)

Islamabad: The Chairman, National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA), Major General Muhammad Saeed Aleem has said a ten year national disaster management plan has been prepared to better deal with natural calamities.

In an interview , he said under this long term comprehensive plan, necessary steps are being taken to avert losses in calamities.

Saeed Aleem said Pakistan has been facing natural disasters in the past few years and there is a dire need to raise awareness amongst the public about risk and loss reduction in the floods and earthquakes. The media, he said, in this regard can play an important role.
