Need stressed to solve problems of southern Punjab

Bahawalpur: Amir Jamaat-e-Islami Punjab chapter  Dr Syed  Waseem Akhter has stressed the need to solve the problems of Southern Punjab on priority.

Addressing  the convention and oath taking ceremony of Public Relations Society of Pakistan in the premises of Divisional Public Relations Office Bahawalpur, he alleged that Bahawalpur region was being neglected by the present regime. He said approximately sixty percent of provincial budget was being spent on the development of provincial metropolis Lahore while major share of remaining  40 per cent Punjab budget had been allocated to Faisalabad, Gujranwala and other upper Punjab districts.

He told the audience that these facts were revealed in arecent Asian Development Bank (ADB) survey in which the fund allocations for Bahawalnagar were viewed in the base line of graphic  survey while Bahawalpur was placed in the fourth line  its bottom.

Amir Jamaat-e-Islami Punjab that regarding the restoration of former Bahawalpur province, many times before the beginning of Punjab assembly session, he handed over his resolution to Punjab assembly secretariat but Speaker did not entertain it and declared it against assembly rules.

MPA said that  to know the facts about non-entertaining of his resolution for Bahawalpur

province restoration, he met Speaker Punjab assembly and asked him about its reasons. Dr Waseem Akhter  claimed d that he questioned Speaker Punjab assembly why he did not allow the tabling of his resolution as same was approved in previous Shahbaz Sharif regime. He said that the speaker told him under the directions it was not allowed.

Amir Jamaat Islami Punjab assured Public Relations Society leadership that he would draw the attention of Punjab government about their genuine demands through point of orders, questions and resolutions in Punjab assembly.
