Karachi: Head Department of Chest Medicines Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre (JPMC) Prof Dr Nadeem Ahmed Rizvi on Monday said a new Outpatient Department (OPD) and Sleep Lab have been constructed under public-privet partnership and 18-bed new Intensive Care Unit (ICU) equipped with latest technology would be made operational soon.
He expressed these views during the inaugural ceremony of New OPD Ward and Sleep Lab at Chest Medicine Department JPMC. In-charge Emergency Department JPMC Dr Seemi Jamali, Director JPMC Tasneem Ahsan, Prof Iqbal Afridi, Prof Tariq Mehmood and other senior doctors were present.
Dr Nadeem Rizvi said JPMC has started Sleep Lab, a test that record what happens to your body during sleep. He said the studies are done to find out what is causing your sleep problems. He said better diagnosing the sleep problems including Obstructive Sleep Apnoea and other diseases will be made possible with introduction of new technology in this government-run hospital.
He said around 350 to 400 patients visits OPD of Chest Department on daily basis. He said separate Asthma, COPD, TB Clinic, Multi-Drug-Resistance (MDR) and Pharmacy rooms were established in new OPD ward.
Chief Guest Director JPMC Tasneem Ahsan inaugurated the new OPD Ward and Sleep Lab. She also applauded the role of Prof Nadeem Rizvi and philanthropists for construction of new OPD and Sleep Lab.
The new OPD ward was established with finical support of Gatron Foundation, while the new ICU ward would be made functional soon.
