Islamabad: The National Assembly was informed on Monday that a new textile policy focussing on value-addition and boosting exports is being finalised.
Minister for Textile Industries Abbas Khan Afridi told the House during question hour that new policy will be ready by 30th June this year. He said one of the prime objectives of the policy is to operationalise the technology up-gradation scheme to encourage investment in shuttle less loom and garments sectors.
The Minister informed the House that cloth exports have registered seven per cent increased during the current financial year as compared to the same period last year.
Minister for Overseas Pakistanis and Human Resource Development Pir Syed Sadaruddin Shah Rashidi told the House that Overseas Pakistanis Foundation has taken various initiatives for the welfare of Overseas Pakistanis. He said NADRA Swift Centre has been established at OPF Headquarters in Islamabad for issuance of National Identity Cards.
The Minister said rupees 2. 3 million have been disbursed amongst the earthquake affected families of Overseas Pakistanis in District Awaran Balochistan. He said airport facilitation counters for Overseas Pakistanis have been established at Sialkot and Turbat.
