NLF holds demo against privatization

KARACHI: National Labour Federation (NLF) on Wednesday staged a demonstration against privatization policy of the government to sell the national institutions, outside the Karachi Press Club (KPC) on Wednesday.

A large number of protestors from different labour unions, carrying placards and banners, raised slogans against the privatization of national institutions and asked the government to stop it.

The protest was led by Secretary of NLF, Abdul Salam, Lala Nazir, Raja Munaf and others.

Protest leaders said that the rulers have not learnt any lesson from devastation of the national institutions due to their privatization. Government wants to sell out such institutions in scrape rate on directives of International Monetary Fund (IMF) and the World Bank, they charged.

They threatened that if the government did not stop privatization of the national institutions then they will start a movement against privatization in collaboration with political and religious parties.
