Notice taken of removal of electricity poles, trees on Shahra-e-Pakistan

KARACHI: Taking notice of the chopping of Shahra-e-Pakistan trees and removal of street light poles, Administrator Karachi Saqib Ahmed Soomro on Monday directed director general parks & horticulture and works & services to submit report on exact losses suffered by Karachi Metropolitan Corporation following the incident that could be redressed through action against the culprits.

In a letter to the deputy commissioner central, administrator Karachi said that the streetlight poles were owned by KMC which had been removed giving million of rupees loss to KMC, whereas, citizens also had to face trouble in absence of lights at night.

He said dozens of trees were chopped off on Shahra-e-Pakistan which was totally undue and unauthorized act, therefore, legal action may be taken against those who were responsible for that and action should be taken against any political party or people indulged in this activity and the compensation for this would be charged to redress the government loss.
