Oil and gas: (Steps being taken to increase indigenous oil, gas production)

ISLAMABAD: The government is taking serious steps to increase the indigenous oil and gas production in the country. According to a report, during the tenure of the present government 46 new exploration licences covering an area of over 94,608 square kilometers have been granted to different companies. 202 wells have been spudded since June 2013.

Apart from conventional reserves, the government is also making all out efforts to pave way for exploration of unconventional reserves like Tight gas, Shale Gas and Low BTU gas.
