One killed, four injured in Karachi blast

KARACHI: A blast outside a mosque near Kati Pahari in Orangi Town on Thursday killed a man and left four others injured. The sound of blast was heard in different areas of the city including Jehangir Road, Liaquatabad, Nazimabad, North Nazimabad, Federal B Area and Qasba Colony.

Rescue teams reached the site of the explosion and the injured were taken to Abbasi Shaheed Hospitals for medical assistance, one of the injured succumbed to his injures on the way. Doctors said that the condition to two injured was critical.

Rangers personnel, police and Bomb Disposal Squad (BDS) have reached the site of blast and cordoned off the area.

According to initial reports, SSP Sajid said that the blast was carried through a planted device which was placed in an auto-rickshaw parked outside the Mustafa Mosque in Qasba Colony 2 ½. The windowpanes of nearby buildings and four vehicles were also damaged due to the blast.

Spokesman of Ahl-e-Sunnat Wal Jamaat (ASWJ) said that two of its workers have been killed in the blast.
