One-window desk at JIAP

Karachi: To facilitate the overseas passengers, a One Window Facilitation Desk at Jinnah International Airport (JIAP) will be established on 6th August,2015, which will be formally inaugurated by Federal Ombudsman.M.Salman Faruqui.

This was disclosed by Hafiz Ahsan Ahmed Khokhar Sr. Advisor (Law)/ Registrar Grievance Commissioner for Overseas Pakistanis while presiding meeting of representatives of all the organizations, agencies and airlines working at JIAP Karachi.

The problems and grievances concerning to all the passengers at JIAP Karachi will be addressed through One Window Facilitation Desk. In total twelve Government Departments working at JIAP Karachi including NADRA, Anti Narcotics Force and Directorate of Passport & Immigration will be deputed round the clock at the desk. All agencies at JIAP Karachi will work in co-ordination with operations of One Window Facilitation Desk. From each agency a focal person will be appointed to deal with issues of One Window Facilitation Desk.

The Senior Advisor said that about 7.5 million Pakistanis are living abroad. The Wafaqi Mohtasib (Federal Ombudsman) has received 152,000 complaints of overseas Pakistanis in the last two years. He further added that foreign office had been recommended to make arrangements for hearing of complaints and resolving the issue of attestation of documents of overseas Pakistanis in a systematic manner.

Previously One Window Facilitation Desks already have been opened at Allama Iqbal International Airport Lahore and Benazir Bhutto International Airport Islamabad which are serving the travelling international passengers successfully. One Window Facilitation Desk will be opened at Bacha Khan International Airport, Peshawar on 28th August, 2015.

The representatives of agencies working at JIAP Karachi whom attended the meeting were from Pakistan Civil Aviation Authority, Airports Security Force, Pakistan Customs, Federal Investigation Agency, Overseas Pakistanis Employment Corporation, Immigration & Overseas Employment, Ministry of Religious Affairs, Anti Narcotics Force, Special Branch of Police and representatives of Airlines.
