ISLAMABAD: According to a Gilani Research Foundation Survey carried out by Gallup Pakistan, 60% Pakistanis opine that Pakistan should play the role of a mediator between Afghan Government and Afghan Taliban.
A nationally representative sample of men and women from across the four provinces was asked, “Some people feel that Pakistan should play the role of a mediator between the Afghan Government and Afghan Taliban whereas others do not feel that Pakistan should mediate between the Afghan Government and Taliban. What is your opinion on this matter?” In response to this question 60% said that Pakistan should play the role of a mediator while 37% said that Pakistan should not mediate. 3% did not respond.
The study was released by Gilani Research Foundation and carried out by Gallup Pakistan, the Pakistani affiliate of Gallup International. The recent survey was carried out among a sample of 1867 men and women in rural and urban areas of all four provinces of the country, during November 02 – November 09, 2015. Error margin is estimated to be approximately ± 2-3 per cent at 95% confidence level.
