ISLAMABAD: According to a Gilani Research Foundation Survey carried out by Gallup Pakistan, 54% Pakistanis said that they would oppose the idea of privatizing state owned factories and industries.
A nationally representative sample of men and women from across the four provinces was asked, “Suppose that Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif creates a situation where he is selling off state owned banks, factories and industries to private individuals.
Some will support this mass privatization while others will oppose it. Do you support or oppose the idea of privatization of state owned facilities?” In response to this question 45% said that they would support it while 54% said that they would oppose it. 1% did not respond.
The study was released by Gilani Research Foundation and carried out by Gallup Pakistan, the Pakistani affiliate of Gallup International. The recent survey was carried out among a sample of 1723 men and women in rural and urban areas of all four provinces of the country, during October 26 – November 02, 2015. Error margin is estimated to be approximately ± 2-3 per cent at 95% confidence level.
