QUETTA:,,, On assuming Charge as Balochistan Police Chief in February last year province was confronted with abduction for ransom, target killings and other crimes. Accepting these challenges he succeeded to a great extent with the assistance of Government of Balochistan and Pakistan army.
These views were expressed by outgoing Chief of Balochistan Police Mushtaq Ahmed Sukhera at his farewell meeting with media here Monday.
He said when he assumed charge situation of Balochistan Police was very bad in the province. Corruption was at its peak and incidents of abduction for ransom, target killings were at peak. People were not satisfied with performance of Police and they relied more in Frontier Corps. Accepting these challenges he started work for the improvement of police force because it was not ready to meet above challenges. He decided to rebuild confidence of people in the police force. He started postings and transfer in police on purely merit. He said there was no institution for Commando training of police in Balochistan. He aid due to his efforts ATF school started work in Quetta which would increase its training and performance and thus reliance on FC would end soon.
He said no interference was made by provincial government in his matters. On the directives of Army Chief Police was provided five thousand SMGs along with ammunition. Army also provided training of Police officials. They obtain from Amy were now working at Quetta streets.
He said 15 was made active in the province. It was provided 20 vehicles.
Provincial government provided funds for logistics. He aid we have ordered for 20 APCs for Quetta. Armoured vehicle have also been ordered for sensitive areas including Khuzdar and Mekran. Provincial Government has released Rupees 500 million in this regard. Promises have also been made for providing Rupees 2 billion funds for other projects.
He said due to efforts of Police and cooperation of provincial government incidents of abduction for ransom and religious terrorism have minimized to a great extent. However two incident of religious sectarianism have occurred along Quetta-Taftan section of RCD highway. He aid we had already made clear upon Shia community that complete security is not possible align 700 Km Quetta-Taftan route. He said ferry service for Zaireen was under consideration while air service has already been launched.
Outgoing Balochistan Police chief said Shuhada package for police men has been made better. Family of each official died during service would be provided better pension and other facilities. Their children would be provided school and other institutions fees by Balochistan police.
