PACD builds cold storages in Balochistan

QUETTA: Pakistan Agriculture and Cold Chain Development (PACD) with USDA assistance has been building cold storages in various parts of Balochistan from 10 tonnes to 1500 tonnes capacity for preservation of apples, grapes, cherry, date and bananas for the transportation of vegetables and fruits of Balochistan to national and international markets.

According to sources 20 storages have been built in Mekran, 20 in areas of grapes producing, 8 in areas of bananas during four years.

Nine more major cold storages have also been completed with capacity 250 tonnes to 1500 tonnes.

Moreover three chilled truck were handed over to Balochistan Horticulture society by Chief of party Farrukh Baig Mirza.

On completion of this chain fruit and vegetable would reach to country’s markets increasing income of zamindars and providing good quality of fruits to the consumers.

These chilled trucks would also transport banana, orange, kinnow and mangoes upto Chaman and Taftan borders in good condition.
