KARACHI: President Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK) chapter and ex-prime minister of AJK Barrister Sultan Mehmood Chaudhry on Monday said world powers should play their role in resolving the Kashmir issue according to the resolutions passed by United Nations, adding due to delay in solving the issue uprising has again started in the Indian-held Kashmir and India has resorted to use brutal force to crush the freedom fighters.
“The government of Pakistan should adopt a downright stance on this matter and raise voice at international level to stop Indian atrocities towards Kashmiri people,” he said while addressing a press conference at Karachi Press Club (KPC).
Chaudhry said after the 9/11 the global situation went changed dramatically. Freedom movements including Kashmiris freedom movement were also affected. Kashmiris have however, continued their peaceful struggle for their rights after the 9/11, but the world powers are not help them and this the Kashmir issue is put on the back burner.
“Plebiscite should be held in the occupied Kashmir because the Kashmiris living there wanted to be a part of Pakistan.”
He said the visit of the Chinese president has much importance also for Kashmiris. Pakistan should adopt a joint stance with China to resolve the international issue of Kashmir,” he said.
He said a million march rally would be organized this year like the previous one to express solidarity with the people of Kashmir.
Chaudhry appealed to the Kashmiri people residing in NA-246 constituency to vote for the PTI candidate Imran Ismail to bring peace in the city.
He also appealed all political parties of the country to put behind their petty differences and join hands to support the struggle for the freedom of Kashmir.
On this occasion, some workers of different parties including Pakistan People’s Party announced joining PTI.
