LARKANA: As many as 68 posts of doctors from BS-17 to BS-19 are lying vacant out of 252 sanctioned posts in entire Larkana district since very long despite several written letters to the health department by the District Health Officer.

According to most reliable sources, out of 164 sanctioned posts of BS-17, only 143 are filled and 21 posts are vacant, out of 63 posts of BS-18 only 27 are filled and 36 are vacant and out of 24 posts of BS-19 only, 13 are filled and 11 are vacant.

Irony of the matter is that out of these 68 posts 32 posts are of specialist cadre and out of these 32 posts as many as 27 posts are lying vacant of various disciples which has virtually rendered these Taluka Hospitals (THs) and Rural Health Centers (RHCs) useless for the poor needy patients of Larkana.

At Taluka Hospital, Ratodero, 16 BS-18 posts of eye specialists, chest specialists, anesthetists, Orthopedics surgeon, pediatrician, skin specialist, ENT specialist, physician, pathologists, surgeons & gynecologist are vacant since its birth and 10 such posts are also vacant in Taluka Hospital, Dokri. There is no Chest Or ophthalmologist specialist in Government Hospital, Naundero, though there are two sanctioned posts of BS-18. Likewise, two posts each of ophthalmologist & eye specialist of BS-18 are also lying vacant at Rural Health Center, Garhi Khuda Bux Bhutto

In RHC Badah as well, two posts of BS-18 are vacant which include eye specialist and chest specialist. This shows that patients confronting diseases of these related fields have to bear extra costs to travel to Larkana to get special medical treatment.
