PCAA expresses condolence to families of airport attack victims

KARACHI: Keeping in mind the present scenario, different rumours are being spread regarding suspension of flight operations from / to Jinnah International Airport by foreign carriers, to take their input and to give confidence with regard to the security at Jinnah International Airport and all other airports of PCAA, a meeting was held today under the chairmanship of DG PCAA with all the Country Heads of foreign carriers operating in Pakistan and local airlines, in Main Conference Room, HQ PCAA.

At the start of meeting, the DG PCAA expressed heartfelt condolence to the families who were martyred in terrorist attack on 8th June, 2014 and prayed Almighty Allah to grant strength to their families to bear their irreparable loss and rest the departed soul in peace.

During meeting, the DG PCAA said that ASF and other security personnel fought very bravely that contained the terrorists at Terminal-3 Cargo. This has only become possible by proper deployment of ASF personnel at the outside buildings and at the Apron side. However, the security matter of Airports are being re-visited and more serious steps will also be taken for tightening and fool proof security of our airports in the coming days.

The Country Heads / Representatives of foreign carriers operating in Pakistan also conveyed their view point regarding security but simultaneously agreed that the terrorism is a global issue of the day and that their airlines will continue their operations from Pakistan as per schedule.

At the end, the Director General PCAA thanked the participants and assured them for extending full cooperation of PCAA in all respect.
