PCAA finalizes arrangements for pilgrims

Karachi: Pakistan Civil Aviation Authority finalizes all the arrangements pertaining to the departure of Pre-Hajj flights with all relevant stakeholders for smooth execution of flights with proper facilities to all the passengers. Estimated 145,180 Hujjaj will depart from various airports in Pakistan.

Pre- Hajj flights are scheduled to operate from 10 airports including Islamabad with approx. 28,799 Hajjaj, Lahore with 29,587 Hajjaj, Karachi with 37,010 Hajjaj, Multan with 8,338 Hajjaj, Sialkot with 2,346 Hajjaj, Faislabad with 2,874 Hajjaj, Rahim-Yar- Khan with 665 Hajjaj, Sukkur with 1,153 Hajjaj, Peshawar with 25,200 Hajjaj and Quetta with 9,208 Hajjaj.

Pakistan International Airlines, Shaheen Airlines, Air Blue Airlines and Saudi Arabian Airlines have additional flights, while all other airlines will cater Hajjaj on their regular scheduled flights. The Hajj Operation will commence from August 17, 2015 with Flight No: PK 6011 departing at 1935 hrs from Islamabad, which will continue for about one month. All Hajj flights for Karachi will operate from Jinnah International Airport Karachi.

Special arrangements have been made whereas Pakistan Civil Aviation Authority has provided separate place for men and women for prayers, ablution and wearing of Ahram. Guidelines and formalities related to Hajj including informational video will be displayed at the airports for providing relevant information that will help in performing Hajj rituals. At the airports, medical facilities like ambulance, first aid, etc. along with paramedic and doctors will be available in case of any emergency situation.

Pakistan Civil Aviation Authority team has been given proper briefing and orientation for providing timely assistance and special facilities to the Hujjaj. One Window Facilitation Desk will have representative from each government department to provide one window solution and Hujjaj can seek timely assistance.

Pakistan Civil Aviation Authority has also issued instructions to all the concerned airlines for timely communication to their passengers in case of delays in Pre-Hajj flights to avoid inconvenience to the Hujjaj. PCAA flights enquiry numbers are 114 for all Pakistan and 051- 9031243 and 051-9031380 for Benazir Bhutto International Airport Islamabad to get updated information on the status of flights.

In order to avoid congestion & security issues, general public is requested to limit their number of greeters during Hajj operations. Both visitors and vehicles will undergo strict and vigilant security checks and only one visitor will be allowed with one passenger at the airports both at the time of departure and arrival of Hujjaj.

It is also pertinent that Hujjaj ensure compliance to present customs law pertaining to currency allowed to carry with them, prohibition with regards to Narcotics, commercial goods other than personal usage goods, political or sectarian literature which is strictly prohibited as per law.

To complete all the formalities, Hujjaj are requested to reach at the airport at least 3 hours prior to their departure time. For the convenience of Hujjaj, Pakistan Civil Aviation Authority management extends maximum facilities and special arrangements at all the airports to ensure that flights depart on time and safety standard are up held at all times.
