People worldwide interested in learning Chinese: CG

KARACHI: Chinese Council General Karachi Ma Ya’ou said on Thursday that universality and popularity of Chinese language could be ascertained through the fact that the language was being taught in hundreds of institutes worldwide and students and local people of different countries were taking keen interest in it.

“Through the teachings of the vision of great philosopher Confucius, the universality of the language would become vivid. The collaboration between The University of Karachi and Confucius University of China was a very important aspect for the understanding of the teachings of Confucius,” he said this while talking to a seminar organized by Karachi university on Confucius Institute Day on Thursday.

He said Chinese language had a great impact on the people of Korea, Taiwan and Vietnam specially, while the institutes were working hard in America, Germany and France.

Vice Chancellor University of Karachi Prof Dr Muhammed Qaiser said exemplary friendship was set up between China and Pakistan on the strongest level.

“Pakistan is establishing new routes in the region for the betterment of its economy and China is active in promotion of its language and culture,” he said.

The VC said that the promotion of academia through the bilateral relationships would no doubt be fruitful for the new generation.

Director Confucius Institute Karachi University Prof Huang Guiping said there had been hundreds of Confucius institutes established worldwide where Chinese culture and heritage were being taught. The Aisan countries had shown interest the most in Chinese language.

Before the speeches, a documentary in which Chinese culture, heritage, educational institutions, daily activities, participation of students in different programs, development, roads and natural beauty were shown that aroused audience’s interest more.
