Karachi:,,, Sindh High Court (SHC) on Thursday restrained Pakistan International Airline Corporation (PIAC) from terminating contract of employees associated with PIAC hotels.
A division bench headed by Justice Irfan Saadat Khan gave this interim order while hearing a petition filed by contractual employees for regularization. The court issued notice to secretary defence and PIAC authorities to file their comments by July 03.
The petitioners, Syed Khawar Abbass Ali Shah and 15 others, submitted that they were appointed on contractual basis and are working at PIAC’s Airport Hotel for last three years under the contractual obligation.
They said that as per service laws, contractual employees who had served more than 90 days, are liable to be regularized but their services were not regularized so far. “We fear that our contract will be terminated and we will be rendered jobless,” said the petitioners.
They requested the court to restrain respondents from terminating their contracts and direct them to regularize their services.
