PINSAT, NCP ink accord for collaboration

Islamabad: Preston Institute of Nano Science and Technology (PINSAT)-Preston University, Islamabad and the National Centre for Physics (NCP), Islamabad inked an accord for collaboration between the two institutions. The MoU to this effect was inked at a simple but impressive ceremony held at the Islamabad campus of Preston University. Dr. Hafeez R. Hoorani, Director General National Centre for Physics signed the MoU on behalf of NCP. Dr. Abdul Basit, Chancellor Preston University signed it on behalf of Preston University.

Under the MoU inked between PINSAT-Preston University and the National Centre for Physics Islamabad, a formal linkage has been established to give boost to research and technical cooperation in the area of Physics. This is being done with a purpose to advance the state of science and technology in general and Physics in particular within the country and to bring benefit to both sides by sharing resources wherever possible. NCP and PINSAT, according the MoU inked between the two institutions undertakes to pursue a program of scientific and technical collaboration for the exchange of ideas, skills and techniques on problems of mutual interest and benefit. The primary areas of collaboration stipulated in the MoU are exchange and training of scientific and technical personnel for teaching, research and development in the field of Physics and other allied disciplines; High Energy Physics (Theoretical/Experimental), Nanosciences, Ion Beam/Accelerator Physics, Atomic & Laser Physics, Plasma Physics, etc. Besides this, several other vital areas of mutual interest and benefit to PINSAT and NCP have been stipulated in the MoU.

In his brief remarks on the occasion, Dr. Hafeez R. Hoorani, Director General NCP at the outset gave a brief introduction of his institution. He said the main objective of NCP is to promote research in Physics and Allied disciplines in the country. NCP, he stated, endeavours to engage in world-class research and develop science culture in Pakistan. Regarding signing of MoU for collaboration with PINSAT-Preston University, Dr. Hoorani said that it was truly a matter of immense pleasure and honour for him to have been able to execute a MoU for collaboration in areas of mutual interest and benefit to NCP and PINSAT. Dr. Hafeez R. Hoorani said NCP sincerely looks forward to a productive and mutually beneficial relationship between the two institutions in times to come.

Dr. Abdul Basit, Chancellor Preston University in his succinct remarks on the occasion spoke of PINSAT’s standing as a professional and well-regarded Institute in the field of Nanoscience and Technology in the private sector in the country. In a very short span of just five years of its existence PINSAT has established an outstanding reputation both within the country and abroad, he said with a sense of pride. Dr. Abdul Basit expressed his sincere gratitude to Prof. Dr. Hafeez Hoorani, Director General NCP for graciously agreeing to ink a MoU for mutually beneficial cooperation between NCP and PINSAT. This collaboration, he said, will go a big way in promoting the cause of science and scientific research in the country and contribute towards the profound development of our beloved motherland Pakistan.

Earlier, in his introductory remarks Prof Dr NM Butt, Chairman PINSAT briefly outlined the history of PINSAT. He also highlighted some of the outstanding achievements of the Institute since its inception. On the occasion he expressed his full confidence that both NCP and PINSAT would tremendously benefit through cooperation in all areas stipulated in the MoU signed between the two institutions.
