Plan to remove graffiti from Karachi walls

Karachi: A meeting of Divisional Coordination Committee has decided that the directives of the government to remove graffiti from city walls would be fully and urgently implemented.

All civic agencies with the support of police and district administration would take part in the campaign to remove wall chalking. In the meeting presided over by Commissioner Karachi Shoaib Ahmad Siddiqi, it was decided that FIRs would be registered against those found involved in the wall chalking.  All deputy commissioners were asked nolwall chalking is in their jurisdictions. It was also decided that the civic problems being faced in industrial  areas would be solved on priority basis.

It may be noted that Karachi is the ugliest city of Pakistan regarding graffiti on its walls. This graffiti is also responsible for increased sectarian violence in the mega city. However, removal of graffiti is the responsibility of Karachi Metropolitan Corporation (KMC) that itself is marred with different issues due to bad governance, political interferences and paucity of funds.
