PM directs to expedite relief activities in rainstorm-hit areas

ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Mohammad Nawaz Sharif on Monday directed the Chairman National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) to expedite relief and rescue activities in the rain affected areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

The Prime Minister, who is in London, issued the directives by telephone. He said no laxity will be tolerated in providing relief to the affected people. Relief activities have been started in the storm and torrential rain-hit areas of Peshawar, Nowshera and Charsadda.

The commuters are facing hardships due to standing water on different roads. The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister has directed provincial ministers and MPAs to visit the affected areas and monitor relief activities.

The Provincial Disaster Management Authority has dispatched teams to provide relief and assess damages in Peshawar, Nowshera and Charsadda. The provincial government has announced a compensation of five hundred thousand rupees for family of each deceased.

Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif has announced relief assistance for families of those who lost their lives in rain and storm in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Rs 0. 5 million have been announced for each deceased, whereas injured would receive Rs 50,000 each.
