ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Mohammad Nawaz Sharif inaugurated renovated British-era building of General Post Office located at picturesque summer hills of Murree on Tuesday.
He also inspected different parts of the building and the postal museum and was briefed about the building. Speaking on the occasion, the prime minister said the building should be made a model for other historical heritage.
He said the heritage of Mall Road Murree is also being protected. The GPO Murree building has been restored in its original shape after the renovation under a prime minister’s package to beautify the natural beauty of Murree, and it is a gift for the residents and the tourists.
Building of GPO Murree was constructed in 1910 and now it has been restored in its original shape after renovation. Meanwhile, a meeting chaired by Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif in Murree reviewed development projects in Murree.
It was attended by Federal Ministers, Pervaiz Rashid, Shahid Khaqan Abbasi and Punjab Minister Raja Ashfaq Sarwar. Hamza Shahbaz and Special Assistant to the Prime Minister Dr. Asif Kirmani were also present in the meeting.
