ISLAMABAD: Prime Minister Mohammad Nawaz Sharif held a meeting with PML-N Senators, MNAs, MPAs and office bearers belonging to Khyber-Pakhunkhwa (KP) at Governor House Peshawar on Thursday.
Talking to them the Prime Minister said that government is taking all steps possible to overcome energy shortfall in the country and the day is not far when nation would hear good news in this regard.
According to a press statement issued by PID here on Thursday, the Prime Minister said that economy is heavily dependent on energy and with overcoming this challenge we will see improvement in industrial and agricultural sectors. This would also allow the government to increase spending on the social sector to facilitate the common man, he said.
The Prime Minister said both Zarb-e-Azb and Karachi operations have yielded encouraging results. We are eliminating terrorists and criminals with full force and will not rest till the elimination of the last terrorist. No armed militia would be allowed to operate in the country. The operation in Karachi is not against any specific group or party but is against target killers and criminal elements, he said.
He said economic improvement is most important because this will create better employment opportunities for the people and play a crucial role in eliminating terrorism from the country.
The Prime Minister said because of the effective economic policies of the government and its untiring efforts, tangible results are being achieved which are being recognized by the international rating agencies as well as the international media. This ray of hope has served to improve Pakistan’s standing in the comity of nations, building the confidence of international investors, he said.
He said the government of PML-N government believes in the politics of consensus and tolerance and has been taking all political parties along on all matters of national importance.
The Prime Minister said his government initiated the policy of improving relations with neighbouring countries particularly Afghanistan, which has helped us in destroying networks of terrorists in both the countries. This, he said, would help us achieve a stable and prosperous region. The legislators apprised the Prime Minister of matters relating to their areas.
Party matters in KP also came under discussion. The Prime Minister was informed that provincial government is not taking interest in development projects or in providing basic facilities of life to the people.
